Patrick masters, dvm

Dr. Masters grew up on a farm in Troy, KS. He is a graduate of Kansas State University. After graduation, he practiced veterinary medicine in Hot Springs, AR for a short while before moving to West Virginia in 1992. Dr. Masters practiced locally, including time at Hillside Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Roberts. The Masters family relocated to Nebraska from 1997-2001. In 2001, Dr. Masters relocated to the Charles Town area and again became an Associate Veterinarian at Hillside Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Masters purchased Hillside Veterinary Hospital in 2015. Dr. Masters is married to his wife, Barb, a public health veterinarian. They have a one daughter, Sydney, who followed in her dad’s footsteps by graduating from Kansas State University. She is now attending Indiana University School of Optometry. They have 2 dachshunds- Louie and Josie; a cat – Noelle; and 2 horses – Lady and Mac. He particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery; and his hobbies include woodworking, landscaping, watching sports, and being outdoors.

janet olcott, dvm

Dr. Olcott completed her undergraduate degree at Mount Holyoke College. She obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in 1975. Born and raised in the D.C. Metro area, she currently resides in beautiful Shepherdstown, WV. Dr. Olcott, her husband, and their daughter have MANY pets, including….1 cat, 2 dogs, 2 goats and 19 miniature horses!
Dr. Olcott has been performing Veterinary Acupuncture since 1992, and also enjoys Geriatric and Internal Medicine. In her free time, Dr. Olcott drives miniature horses!

Tara trumler, dvm
Originally from Nebraska, Dr. Trumler completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 2001. She then went on to practice in Nebraska, Kentucky, and Ohio, before finding herself in WV in 2006. Dr. Trumler and husband, Dan (a local equine surgeon), have 4 beautiful children, a rescue dachshund named Gretta, and a bouncy yellow lab named Mable.

Crystal Lock, DVM
Dr. Lock is a native of Pennsylvania and completed her undergraduate degree at Penn State University. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at St. George’s University in Grenada in 2013. She completed her clinical year at North Carolina State University. After practicing in Hagerstown for a few years, Dr. Lock joined Hillside in March of 2017. She currently lives in the area with her husband, Noah, and daughter, Cora. They have a dog - Clementine, and 2 cats- Black Cat, and Pinky.
She especially enjoys Internal and Preventive Medicine and Dermatology. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and photography. |
kayla broeker, dvm
Dr. Broeker, originally from South Carolina, completed her undergraduate degree at Clemson University in 2014. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Kansas State University in 2019. Dr. Broeker has a dog named Robin and two kitties named Marvin and Peri.
She has an interest in Preventive Medicine and Veterinary Acupuncture. In her free time she plays bass guitar, and she enjoys reading and sketching. |
Grace Sollenberger, dvm

Dr. Sollenberger is originally from Hagerstown, MD. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from St. George's School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She joined Hillside in May 2021.
She has a special interest in oncology; following cancer cases from diagnosis through treatment. She also enjoys soft tissue surgery and advanced dentistry.

Kelly Altendorf, DVM
Dr. Kelly Altendorf is originally from East Fallowfield, PA and received her bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oregon State University in 2010 and moved back to the East coast after graduation. She joined Hillside in June, 2021.
Dr. Altendorf's special interest is in feline medicine and she is an active member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, staying up to date on the latest information and techniques in feline internal medicine. She also enjoys senior pet care and hospice care, including pain management. Her pets are definitely members of the family and know many petparents feel the same way so she wants to help maximize the time and quality of life that they are able to share with their pets. Dr. Altendorf enjoys performing diagnostic ultrasounds as well, often collaborating with the team to help achieve a diagnosis to lead to the best treatment plan for your pets.
When not working, Dr. Altendorf enjoys spending time at home with her husband Kyle, her two sons, Henry and Oliver, and their 16 cats. She also helps to take care of her neighborhood's feral cat colony.
